Lessons I learned in Week 2 of EDLD 5301
Ok, this is my second attempt to post this blog. After having discovered that I accidently erased everything that I had type it really left me angry.
This week was a great week of learning in EDLD 5301. I especially enjoyed learning how leaders make the decisions on what they will research. The how is the good part. Formulating questions about the topics of interest was very interesting and time consuming. The video interviews helped clear some of the questions up. I missed the web coference this week and was able to watch the video recording. It was good to see that I was not the only one with quesions. I was able to get answers to most of my questions from the answers given to my fellow classmates. I plan to attend the next one. I definitely know that they are there for me to ask questions to resolve any issues I have.
I hope that week 3 will continue to open more doors for me. Learning about action research is time consuming but well worth it.

How Educational Leaders Might Use Blogs
Blogs continue to be valuable tools in any profession. When used by educational leaders they could be used post critical information used in action research. Blogs could also be used to provide valuable links and provide an avenue for reflection and comments by others which could be used to gain a better insight on any topic of action research.
As we learned in our last section of study blogs are useful and intersting tool that will be effective and critical to future research by educational leaders.

What I learned in Week 1 about Action Research!
This week was a week of learning about action research, its applications, and benefits to many educators, administrators and students. Action research as defined is "the process of a principal engaging in systematic, intentional study of his/her own administrative practice and taking action for change based on what he/she learns as a result of the inquiry." (Dana, 2009)
After reading the assignments for the week I began to understand action research as a valuable tool that is helpful as compared to traditional educational research. There are great deals of benefits that definitely outweigh any cons about action research. While reading about action research I began to think of all the practices that are done by countless research departments in the educational field, especially higher education. My background is in higher Ed and I often think of our institutional effectiveness department. Their sole job is to do research on everything and anything associated to the college and look for improvement. This is similar to what action research tries to accomplish.
I imagine that action research is not only such a valuable tool for education but a necessary one to say the least. I hope that at the end of this course I will have a greater understanding and a working knowledge about action research. I look forward to the challenge and the wealth of knowledge that is available for this course.
